The Definition chart is derived from critically acclaimed new singles combined with U.S. radio airplay. Each week a song is rated in the top five it earns points based on it's ranking. A number one song receives five points for the week, while a number two earns four points. Three earns three points, four: two points, and five: one point. Next week is the final week of the 1998 music year. After all points are tabulated for every weekly chart, the 1998 year-end review will be released on Tuesday, December 1, 1998.
